Setting Up a Connection - Manage Connections
This tutorial will take you through the step by step process of how to use the Manage Connections area on your SocialLadder account. Manage Connections is a tool to help brand managers and event organizers with installing the SocialLadder pixel onto the checkout page of where tickets or products are being sold.
A customer support specialist from the SocialLadder team will set you up with an account to login to. Check your email and look for a message with the subject ”Your Invitation to SocialLadder.” Read the email and click on “Let’s get started” to access and complete the details on your account. After entering this information, click on “Finish Setup,” and this will take you to the homepage of your SocialLadder account.
Setting Up A Connection
Once your account is set up, you will be brought to the homepage of your account. Click on “Settings” from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen and then click on “Manage Connections” from within your account settings. From there, click on “+ NEW” located directly next to “My Connections.” This will prompt you to choose an option for your connection dependent on your ticketing or e-commerce provider. Choose your platform and click “Select.”
In this example, we selected "Other" as our sales channel. Once selected, you will be brought to "Step 1" of the installation process. This page will ask you for the necessary information to help generate a unique pixel that will be placed on your website. Make sure to enter in the "Event ID" into the bar and click on the checkmark to the right of the bar. This is either the Event ID associated with your event or the name of your e-commerce shop. Below this, you will see the "Custom Parameters" box with the data elements to select that your sales channel currently supports. Once all supported connections are selected, click on "Generate Your Pixel." This will bring you to "Step 2" of the process - Installing Your Pixel.
Now on "Step 2," your unique pixel has been generated based on the Event ID/e-commerce shop name. Click on "Copy To Clipboard" and head over to your sales channel to install the pixel on your sales confirmation page. To read more information about how to install the pixel, make sure you click on the knowledge base article below titled "Installing A Pixel Guide." Once your pixel has been installed on the sales confirmation page, click on "I'm Done Installing."
After clicking on "I'm Done Installing," you will be brought to "Step 3" in the installation process - Testing Your Pixel. To test your pixel, click on "I'm Ready To Test," which puts the pixel into test mode. Once in test mode, you're going to head over to your website and complete a test purchase. Doing this while in test mode will populate any data that is firing from the confirmation page back to SocialLadder.
If you receive a message that states there is "No data detected yet...," please make sure you complete your test purchase prior to clicking that you're ready to test and verify the data. After you complete the test purchase, click on "Refresh." If you receive a message after testing that states "We've detected data - please confirm it...", head over to the "DATA COLLECTION" tab located next to "INSTALLATION" to confirm.
Once you click into the "DATA COLLECTION" tab, you will see data populating into this tab from any purchases that may have come through after you placed the pixel. Check all of the parameters - "Date," "Transaction ID," "Value," "Units," and "Promo Code" (if applicable), to make sure that all the data is pulling correctly. In the case below, all of the data is pulling correctly as it relates to a purchase. If the data was incorrect, the date may populate in the order ID field, or the value may populate at $0.00 instead of the correct price. Crosscheck the details of your ticket or product details to these fields. When all of the data from the test purchase appears correct, click on “Make This Connection Live.”
Your connection is now live and the pixel is firing successfully! Once there are new transactions, they will populate here. Make sure to click on “Refresh” so that any new data shows.
