This article will take you through the steps to create feeds in the portal. These feeds will show up on the “Feeds” tab (essentially, the homepage) in-app for your users to see.
What are custom feeds? Feeds are small graphics used in-app to direct users to a specific destination inside or outside of the app.
What Can I Do With Feeds?
Feeds can be used to share important information, highlight new rewards, call attention to required challenges, support announcements,& direct users to where they need to go. You can link your users to challenges, rewards, announcements, websites, PDFs, & more. Check out the example below.
Example 1: Direct users to your upcoming events calendar with a custom feed
Example 2: Create a feed that automatically tags your user's profile & adds them into a segment
Example 3: Direct users to your rewards list using a feed
Example 4: Link the feed to an email for users to easily contact you to pick up promo materials
Example 5: Ask your community to sign up to volunteer using a feed
How To Create A Custom Feed
From your account home screen, click into the “Feeds” menu category. Select “+CREATE” from the top left corner and a message screen will pop out. This pop-out will include the details for you to create your feed including the name, feed text, notification text, scheduled date, feed image, feed type, and more. We’ll go into these in more detail below and how to use them.
What are all of these fields and how should I use them?
Feed Name: This is where you input the name you’d like to have associated with the feed. This can be something general or specific! This can be related to the action that ambassadors will take or the purpose of the feed.
Text Overlay: This is the text that will be placed over the image you will upload. You can choose to leave this blank if you will add a feed image that already has text included (see feed image description below).
Ex: Sign Up to Volunteer! Or Sell Tickets to Your Friends!
Notification Text: All feeds are sent with a push notification. This is the message that will be notifcation sent a users phone that is linked to the feed image in-app. Try to be clear but concise about the message that you’re sending. This should be related to the call to action below (or feed type) and information that will guide ambassadors to click through to the next step.
Feed Image: This is the image that will show in-app to ambassadors. The image can just be a solid background or can be designed to include text and other unique aspects. As mentioned in text overlay above, you can upload an image or solid background and add a line of text over the image. It’s recommended to create your feed image with text already embedded, especially if there’s someone on your team who can use their design skills!
Start Date & End Date: This is the date and time range in which the ambassadors will see the feed in app. The scheduled date & time selected should align with the option that you chose for the feed type below. Ex: If the feed is linked to a specific challenge, the feed should run for the same length as the challenge, etc.
This is the call to action of the feed image. This dropdown list will show you options where the feed details and prompt will take ambassadors. Ex.
