Making challenges that use hashtags and call for user-generated content are a great way to get your ambassadors to show their followers how they relate to your brand.
Hashtags are used to categorize & promote a brand’s content. Hashtags are also used to create a key brand identifier that helps with social media & consumer discovery.
SocialLadder can integrate desired hashtags into your program via Instagram challenges, as well as manual challenges if specified. These challenges use a hashtag feature to track your ambassadors’ posts & grow your brand’s hashtag.
Hashtags in Challenge Creation
Start by heading to the Challenges tab in the Admin Web Portal and clicking the CREATE button to make a new challenge. Select the Instagram option for the most direct example of hashtag use amongst SocialLadder challenge types.
Instagram challenge types use the provided hashtag to determine whether or not the ambassador completed a challenge, so they’re the perfect place to drive engagement with a desired hashtag.
Input your desired hashtag in the Users have to use the following hashtag field. The Challenge Description field will automatically update with instructions for the ambassador.
User-Generated Content Ideas
Throwback posts are a great way to get people to post their own content! Indulge in Throwback Thursday by creating an Instagram challenge asking you users to post a throwback photo using your brand’s hashtag. These are great challenges for promoters, music festivals, concert venues, etc.
Ask your ambassador to show you their favorite moments! Have them take a photo of their favorite artist performing at your upcoming event. Ambassador can use your event’s hashtag to share their favorite performance or experience to Instagram. This is great for building your arsenal of social media content & sharing your event with your IG community.
If you do not host events, have your ambassadors post a photo featuring one of your products! Simply instructing your ambassadors to use branded hashtags and tags in general lifestyle shots can also be effective. A yoga clothing brand might want to have a general challenge for users to make an Instagram post featuring their favorite pose, while a sunglasses brand could prompt users to upload a selfie in their favorite pair of glasses.
Tips and Tricks:
Ask your users to tag your brand. Your social media profile will be notified when ambassadors upload pictures to that challenge, and you can reshare the picture to your own story! Make sure you provide your handle in the description for ease of posting.
Try using manual challenges that prompt users to upload to their story! Give your ambassadors a prompt or even an image to share, and tell them to post to their story with a hashtag or multiple hashtags! You can use this strategy to get ambassador content featured on generic hashtag stories as well, which can be great exposure for your brand.
Ask for multiple hashtags if necessary. Only one hashtag will be tracked by SocialLadder for challenge completions, but that doesn’t mean you can’t instruct your ambassadors to use further hashtags in the Call to Action field.
